The Winter Prince: A Beauty and the Beast Retelling by Constance Lopez (Once Upon a Prince book 12)
Remi’s kingdom is under a terrible curse — one that has doomed him to where a beastly form forever. A heart freely given is the only way to break it. But who could ever learn to love a beast?
When a human delegation trespasses in his gardens, a plan forms. He’ll let them go if they send a human woman in their place to live with him for a year and a day.
But will Kienna trust her eyes or her heart?
“Not a beast, but a protector.”
I loved the themes of this story. Lopez took the traditional “beauty within” to a whole new level. Remi needed to see himself as something other than a beast, that he had a purpose. And Kienna was the perfect one to help him see that.
There was one scene that had me in absolute torment, but the one that followed was just ALL the warm fuzzies.
The descriptions of the fae world were amazing. If, like me, you absolutely love the animated Beauty and the Beast movie, you will adore this book.
