Bluebeard and the Outlaw: A Retelling of Bluebeard and Robin Hood by Tara Grayce (A Villain’s Ever After)
This is the third instalment of this series and I think my favourite so far. It’s my first time reading anything by Tara Grayce, and I’m definitely eager to read more.
Robin and her brothers live in the forest, raiding the shipments of taxes any time they can. Duke Guy Gysborn has a brutal reputation for raising taxes – and murdering his wives. When the Hood learns that Gysborn is looking for a new wife, she plans the ultimate heist. She’ll marry him and when he tries to kill her, she’ll beat him to it and make off with his gold as a wealthy widow.
She just didn’t expect to start falling in love with Duke Bluebeard.
I loved Robin. She’s a daredevil, but has the uncanny ability to make her risks pay off. Her relationship with her brothers is well developed. There were so many nods back to the familiar Robin Hood tale that made my heart happy.
This is definitely a clean retelling, but there is one kiss that might make you blush. Or maybe that’s just because I couldn’t help picturing Richard Armitage as Guy Gysborn…
????? Five roses because it was absolutely fabulous and I couldn’t put it down.
No swearing
?? A couple of more passionate kisses
⚔️⚔️⚔️ Nothing too intense, but lots of sword fights, etc.
